@bmw575 Not true. I build computers for a living and as long as you ground yourself before touching components you wont have any issues. Just dont rub the hdd along the ground. Carpet dosnt have electricity running though it. The problem comes into play when the person handling the computer components dosnt properly ground themselves. And its really easy. Touch something metal, wall outlet or light switch. I do that and i have never caused any shorts. So stop giving false information.

@skatingscott Ya, I have done work with ITT in the past and they told us we have to wear a "static resistant band" but we never ever did. I worked with 100 computers everyday of the year and nothing happened to any of the equipment Ive repaired.
