This is the Italian opening The Adventures of Alfred J. Quack. I miss these kind of shows, I wish they would re-air stuff like this today.

  • This is not anime. Naruto and all those other horrible series are anime, but this is far too good to be that.

I would never categorize this as anime, it's a Dutch series, and the characters are mostly designed in Germany. The Japanese just did the animation, so calling it an anime is almost an insult to this great series.

And yes, it was aired in the UK. Don't know why it never made to the States.

  • yeah sorry to sully the good name of alfred by calling it an anime, but what other term is there?

But yeah your right, it is too good to be called that.

  • why does the video info say this was never in english? i watched it as a kid in the uk, and it was in english then!

  • Really? I guess it wasn't out here. Your really Lucky then, I wasn't so fortunate.

  • Cool animation, lil bro!

  • Thanks Bro, sad stuff like this will never come to the US. its a curse we get most of the crap here...

  • @Larrylarp hahah there are also good anime NOT like naruto. stop stereotyping xd

  • @Larrylarp ah that's the same as with Pok'emon, where Ash was / is also played by a woman (in the Dutch series)

  • @MindOfCreativity Uh... no. The JAPANESE had Megumi H. as Alfred's voice. I just mentioned her because she's done voices in about a million anime series.

The Dutch and German versions both have the same Dutch lady, Ryan van der Akker, as Alfred. But I'm glad to clarify.

  • *versions

  • @Larrylarp Wait, so the voiceactor of Alfred is Japanese? even in the Dutch and German versies? wow! Never knew that

  • @MindOfCreativity That's right, the animation is made in Japan. The writing and the original concept came from Van Veen (Dutch, as you said) and the character designs were made in Germany. So its Dutch-German-Japanese. Van Veen even voiced Professor von Paljas in the Dutch original, though the Japanese at least had Megumi Hayashibara as Alfred.

Though even if it is called anime, I don't really care.

  • @Larrylarp It was animated by Japanese people, but made by Herman Van Veen (dutch) he worked together with Japanese peeps. (...right?)

  • @Larrylarp Sorry to burst your bubble but Alfred Quack is DEFENITELY an anime. It was animated in Japanese and the first ever version to be broadcast IS the Japanese one. It's not sullying the name of the series as a lot of anime series at the time had the same production values as this one. It's not an insult at all. Check pretty much all the shows you grew up with in the late 80s. I'm gonna bet you that 50% is officially anime.

  • @trcgamer94 I agree. Al I see on Dutch tv for kids is crap atm.. *not al but most*

  • Maybe someday, someone will have the common sense to bring back the good old days or at least make more decent cartoons. Nowadays, people just don't understand the difference between what a cartoon is and what crap is.
