The Australian Consulate received an unusual visit from the city's highest-ranking labor leader, clergy, community advocates, Teamsters and their families on November 11th in response to a Melbourne-based employer's abrupt sacking of one-third of its workforce, a group of veteran port truck drivers known as the "Toll 26," who were organizing a union to remedy third-world working conditions on U.S. soil.

A small delegation made a compassionate appeal to the Consular-General in the hopes Mr. Chris De Cure can assist in their efforts to be re-hired. The show of solidarity, drew as many as 150 supporters in the middle of a work day
