@flippensweet48 Thanks. I'm getting tested in February. Maybe my teachers will move me away from the fan.. and my dad will stop yelling at me in the middle of walmart. And im sorry that you got stuck with such a bad case of it, maybe in a few years the doctors or something will come up with some kind of treatment.. Idk.. good luck though, and thank you for responding. :)
@RenaeLottie Yeah, it's defintiely possible you have it. For me, it's like I hear what people are saying, but its not fully going to my brain. I don't understand what people are saying even though I can hear them. And background noise multiplys that by confusion by 10 and get super frustrated. I just want to hit something, sometimes I do. Hearing someone and misinterpreting what they said is the worse and also wicked embarrassing. .....
@flippensweet48 I'm 15. I've never been diagnosed with this, but my mom thinks that there is a chance that I may have it, or a very mild case. I just wanted the opinion of someone who has been diagnosed, and I saw your comment. I can hear the sounds that people say perfectly, but if there is ANY background noise whatsoever. Everything that is said just sounds like gibberish. I always pass my hearing test at the dr's office though. Is this APD? Thank you so much.
I dislike this disorder sooo much. I was diagnosed when I was around 6 (first grade). I'm 16 and still get poor grades in school. :/ It's really difficult concentrating in school and since teacher's don't really understand this disorder, they can't help much. I've learned how to learn, but that doesn't make it any easier for me.. I just get to tired when trying to follow along.
I think i got this in a mild form. But this vid is kind of a test apparently. The sound is so bad that I didn't understand much of what was said. Anyway.... luckily there is written information.
I'm glad I wasn't born in a time when people still didn't write :p
I thought I had mild ADHD for a long time.. I just now heard of this today, and I think have this. My teachers at one point told my parents to get my hearing tested and after I tested normal they assumed I must be ADHD. It is really hard for me to focus on what people are saying. especially when there's a large group. I also can't remember words very well, which makes it difficult for me to communicate thoughts especially in tests at school
you guys really cant talk because i was diagnosed with APD when i was 2 years old and went through 7 years of speech therapy i am now 16 and still struggling with some things but would love to talk to someone with the same problems.
I was diagnosed in 5th grade, school screws me over. And you know whats ironic? I'm an aspiring sound technician and am currently the head sound technician at my school.
