K-Pax (2001) - Follow the Leader

K-Pax is a movie that managed to somehow slip through the cracks of most people's attention, which is why I thought it was time for a video.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, loved the story and the characters, but wished it would have left the audience wondering rather than rationally explaining a lot of things.
I felt that the explanatory storyline (don't worry, I won't spoil it for you) didn't fit in with the rest of the movie atmospherically, so I dropped it altogether and focused on my favorite sequences instead.
I hope those of you who have seen K-Pax don't mind...

GREAT! A masterpiece! I love K-Pax! You really chose the most expressive scenes! It's a perfect balance between atmospheric images and the facial expression of the actors. And by the way...Kevin Spacey is also charismatic even when you see only his back! DAS WARTEN HAT SICH GELOHNT!!!

And you're right, Spacey *is* charismatic, though not necessarily at first glance. "American Beauty" is a good example in my opinion - he starts out as a rather plain and boring character and metamorphoses into someone quite interesting and multi-layered.

I do not get it.

K-PAX is supposed to be 1,000 light years away from Earth. Later Prot says that he traveled with 6c to get here and that he aged 7 years on his way. 6c translates to about 1,080,000,000 km/h. That would translate to about 1,000 years of travel?????

I love this movie! I would agree that "somehow slip through the cracks of most people's attention". My cousin at the end of movie did ask me "So is he human?". I'm like *That's not the point*! For me its rather a critique of humanity and a statement of what it can be.
