  • why no sand?

  • @Doubtfire95 for years i ran my tanks and refugs with 6 inch sand beds. but it traps bacteria, nitrate and ammonia pockets over the years it can seep out and kill your live stock. if you are going to use sand beds i would recommend only a 1 inch small sand bed in your refug that you can remove and replace every year or so.

  • @Doubtfire95 i use cheeto in my tanks that green ball like stuff in my rufug. i have plant spectrom bulbs 6500K 260 watts of pc light over it. it growes and eats nitrate, ammonia and feeds your live stock.

i dnt have a sump but thinking about setting one up! at the moment i have everything in the tank and using a canister filter which works quite well i must say tho i have trouble with my nitrates there around 10 at the moment but was liking the idea of using cheeto algae does this work well with keeping the nitrates and phosphates down?

  • @Doubtfire95 no its doesn't work well...... its works fucking amazingly! at removing nitrates and waste from your tank and leaving the lights on 24/7 on the Cheeto and with will keep your hp stable as well. i only run a skimmer witch has to be before the water goes in to the cheeto because if its after u skim the good shit from the cheeto out witch feeds your tank.... no canister filter or bio filter needed. bigger the refuge the better, mine is 2 X the size of my display tank

  • neat rockscaping

  • @ReefCollege thanks man!
