I started building this house this past January 2011 and just finished it on May 1, 2011. It holds 1200 pigs. They came in today @ 60 lbs. I keep them 20 weeks and sell them @ 300lbs. This barn will bring in $44,000 a year! Between me and my Father we have a total of 3600 pigs at one time.

  • These things look familiar, I've raised pigs most of my life, and I gotta say, that's a nice set up.

  • @kimieann1975 oh so when its 10 below zero or 120 degrees and blowin snow and lightning and raining you wouldnt wanna be inside?

  • for everybody thinkin about getting into the hog business because they seen the 44 grand a year...thats after its paid off and usually takes 7-10 years to pay off WITHOUT taking any money out of it..atleast my barn of similar size did

  • you need to have beddng(hay) and you should let your pigs roam free instead because they should have a happy life for the rest of their life

  • $44k a year ... I hope that's AFTER your bank payments? Looks like that barn cost a pretty penny.

  • What kind of motor are you using for the feeding? Are the perforated slabs pure concrete? Thanks a lot!

  • nice farm sir. im hope you dont mind me asking about the dimension of your pig house and what are the dimension of each pig pen. thanks a lot!

  • Very nice, I want the same setup as yours. How much did it cost to build and did you have someone build it or do it yourself? Been doing some research and want to start a pig farm, is the $44,000 per yr. after all expenses? Do you raise piglets or just buy them and raise to 300 lbs.? What is the going rate for hogs ready for butcher? Many thanks for your time, keep up the great work!

  • Another farmer that sold out to big Ag. You should check out Polyface Farms. He's reaching the million dollar sales mark. Best of all his farm is healthy and all he does is leave them out on land. Sorry but this is not farming.
