I was lucky enough to be a young adult when Dinah was belting this out. What a voice. These ones today can't hold a candle to her, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Etta James. These ladies were top shelf and their music still is today.

Great! Love her and all the originals - And to other comments - no need to compare one rose to another - they were/are all fantastic. Add Morgana Kind to the list - unique and velvet voice - few know of her.

So placing advertisements on, and thereby profiting from music you didn't create is legal, but allowing strangers to listen to music you purchased is illegal. Thank you Cascade dish detergent, for ensuring that I could not skip your ad to enjoy the splendor of Dina Washington's voice.

Whenever the sound is soul based, it doesn't matter whether technically it's RnB, Rock, Jazz or any other genre for that matter. Etta also sung and recorded standard jazz tunes, so she's in there with Dinah, Ella and Billie. You know what I mean Britt?

Anyone who can tell the Queen of England that she is not a queen to her face is legendary and that is what Mrs. Washington did. Dinah song Blues RnB, Gospel and Jazz great and you are trying to downplay her..you are on crack. Billie was great at what she did but Ella, Sarah and Dinah was there too and claimed thier own ground...please I'm probable a bigger Billie fan than all of those ladies but I'm not going to take away from what they did or say if it wasn't for Billie they would not be.

All four: Dinah, Ella, Billie and Etta were great in their own right. No need for comparison or debate. All were exceptional and left their mark on jazz. They are all legends! Let's continue to enjoy. :-)
