SITA SINGS THE BLUES
Sunday 8 March [18.45] Watermans
Directed, written, produced, designed and animated by Nina Paley
USA: 82 mins, English, 2008
Animated story about Sita, a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and
husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps
her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and
modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic
Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues
earns its tagline as "The Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."
a wrong attempt to mix indian culture with any kind of life story of west.
this should not be done, especially when in people's eye, it's not just history or an epic, but their religious beliefs.
when you question on some epic, try not to do it in public expecting no answers from dumbass audience, who know nothing about their own history and still call it a work of art.
