I know what I'm talking about because a) a couple chinese kids in the ESL class my mother teaches mother's are mail ordered and b) my father knows men who have ordered brides. ALL of them became mail order brides to come here to better themselves, and some even have to deal with the physical abuse their husbands give them to stay. Not all american women are shallow, that may have been your experience, and if so I'm sorry. Shallowness is not only found in America, it is found globally. Racist?

Um,intercultural mixed marriages dont work!They just dont!Their culture is way too different from ours!I personally never understand how all those american/canadian men who are going to mainland China to teach english often come back with a chinese wife,why? Do some research - Chinese women are culturally inclined to be less shallow. Chinese men are often abusive or unfaithful, and divorced women are looked down upon, so women are taught to be smart in choosing a man. Most would rather have a fat, ugly, old guy who is faithful and loving, than a smooth-talking, good-looking playboy who will not appreciate them. To this end, relatively fewer Chinese women drink or are promiscuous, because they know that the good men are also looking for good women.
