The Rio Oyacachi is another gem of the Quijos valley. Starting at over 10,000 feet in the village of Oyacachi, the river plunges through steep mountainsides and virgin rainforest. Its possible to do the entire river in two to three days from top to bottom, but most kayakers do the day stretch outside of the town of El Chaco at 4000 feet in elevation. This lower section packs plenty of punch - tons of boofs, holes and continuous boulder garden rapids until the river confluences with the Quijos just below El Chaco.
Small World Adventures has been guiding deluxe week long kayaking trips in Ecuador since 1993. We were the first company to offer kayaking trips in Ecuador, and wrote the Kayaker's Guide to Ecuador. We have an exclusive riverside lodge on the Rio Quijos, near Borja, Ecuador, with a gourmet chef, onsite massage therapist, the most experienced expert guides in Ecuador and over 60 kayaks in our fleet to choose from. Our experience in Ecuador means we have the logistics dialed so you can maximize the fun. Come join us for your best paddling vacation ever!
