Many people especially Catholics, do not understand Christian theology or what the Bible says. This kid is just being honest. Why be a hypocrite. I am a Bible believing Christian myself- I would like to just quietly talk to this young man. His mother's faith is not real and I think her son exposed that. People of true faith are not threatened by professions of atheism. When all is said and done, you cannot force your beliefs on someone else. Religion = man-made - believe in God, not religion

@theskeptic2010 and yet belief in god without religion is deism... and I doubt you're a deist. In the end if you followed a revealed religion you have to embrace men who claim special revelation from god...  which is faith in men, not in god.

Christ was actually very harsh toward and had some hard words to say about the organized religion of His day. Many "churched" Christians either don't know this, or gloss over it. No, to be honest I can't say that I'm a deist. I don't entirely agree with you on some points but I enjoy having discussions about God and religion, while agreeing to disagree though

@clamantuanguyan That's ... The dumbest thing I've ever heard. It really takes the cake, beyond the usual religious stuff. And the fact that you think it's a good excuse and a reason to support Hell and think that it's okay is astonishing. Either you're not thinking it through very well or you just accept whatever you're told to think is acceptable and nice. Really? Your wife/husband/son/daughter is in pain but it's okay cause you don't remember them? That's a horrible god.

@clamantuanguyan sorry but if a god exist he didn't give me a brain so I wouldn't use it. When someone says "don't judge god" they're really say "don't judge me and the silly claims I'm making." No gods are apparent asking not to be judged, just humans. So do I judge these religious beliefs? You bet I do. Do they hold up to the scrutiny. No they don't.
