The history of the Watchtower Society is like a slapstick comedy. Each event is another hilarious episode as they stumble from blooper to blooper, contradiction to contradiction, and blatant lie to blatant lie.

That any educated human being could research the history of these clowns and think they are specially chosen by God is in itself worthy of mockery.

One of the earliest examples of the Watchtower Society's wacky antics was when Charles Russell helped his friends create a sham company run out of the Watchtower annex. He had the company's materials packaged along with Watchtower magazines and used the names of employees there as a front.

During his divorce trial(another hilarious episode in the Watchtower cavalcade of comedy), Russell swore an oath on a holy Bible to tell the truth, then perjured himself no less than five times to protect his business interests and his friends.

"I sought a prophet and I found a businessman! Instead of a humble seeker after truth, I found the cleverest propagandist of the age, a man before whom Mary Baker Eddy, Madame Blavatsky . . . and Joseph Smith pale into puerile ineffectiveness....

I found not a blazing zealot... but a shrewd old man. .

When it comes to raising money, most pastors, board secretaries and financial representatives of benevolent causes can sit at Russell's feet. Russell may know nothing theoretically about the science of psychology, but he is a past master of the thing itself.

He might say, if he were utterly candid, The longest way round is often the shortest way home: It is better to put an idea into people's heads that will constrain them to give of what they suppose is their own volition, than to extract money by urgency."
- William T. Ellis, The Continent (National Presbyterian weekly), week of Sept. 30, 1912.

  • whats the name of this song?

  • "Naked Birthday" by Switchblade Symphony.

  • Cool song. Horrible facts about a horrible man.

  • Very underrated band. And yeah, it's definitely one of the most damning cases in the history of Russell.

  • Anytime someone lies under oath it's quite damaging. I wonder if there's any evidence that CT Russell sold snake-oil.

  • Yes but he called it miracle wheat.

  • @TimKilgore Tim I think old chuck meant well, I really do. relative told me years ago Rutherford took it....I see that now, was chuck murdered on Halloween on that train? Rutherford took over literally did not follow CT's last will and testament. The bible students seemed very good old style christians, and even had christmas dinner. also CT knew Stetson of THE hats. be well.

  • @utukkuxul "I used to sell miracle wheat now I am gluten free" t-shirts maybe?.....signed 4th generation.P.S. was old chuck murdered on halloween? odd timing with his death on that train. relative told me long ago rutherford "took it" re: did not follow chuck's last will and testament, etc.

  • @exjw44288 love that chuck what a businessman.....he knew Stetson of THE hats by the way.

  • @utukkuxul hey and they had a goods catalog that came with watchtower, wow every housewife has something spiritual to read AND a catalog......that is pure advertising genius.

  • solon was a greek philosopher of some note. also solon ohio home of Nestle and L'oreal has a great econ right now, wonder if any connection.....that russell he knew business publishing and middleman, but he told me I did not need a middleman to most high except JC, he said no priest needed, he was right on that.

  • @utukkuxul yes true but unfortunately the Jws Are growing in popularity still

  • @terrhack Peter didn't appear in the court, and swear on the bible. Also, there is much evidence to show that many of those biblical characters never existed. Only logic can lead you in this. Faith is purely emotional, and emotion has nothing to do with logic.

Look at a video "Documentary Hypothesis", and see what you think. Also check out "Zeitgeist". Take care.
