That is not Chuck playing piano. That is Gregg. Sad thing about this rehearsal is this is where Duane took possession of the bike he was riding when he died. I remember how blown away he was when it showed up. this is also where we first worked on Blue Sky.

duane was listening more and more to the jazz of miles davis and john coltrane before his death. makes me wonder where he would have gone with jazz if he'd lived on...

BBF, I've often thought the same thing. What collaborations would he have fostered?!? I do think he'd be proud of ABB's more recent songs Instrumental Illness, Kind of Bird, and Egypt, among others.

My Fav Musicians playing my other Fav .. Jazz..it doesn't get better than this for me.

That's because the spirit of the tune didn't call for Duane's soaring slide licks. Above all else, Duane always played with the vive of the tune. If you don't think that is Duane, then you're not really listening. No doubt that is Duane.

@boblackey1 Bob, think about it. We don't hear Duane's soaring slide licks on this, so I'm not positive if he's present during this rehearsal. But Butch alluded to Duane taking possession of the Sportster at this time. Maybe he was out taking a test ride.

Wow, this could be the coolest things I've heard from ABB. And there are many cool tunes from that outstanding band.

@ButchTrucks Dear Butch, I saw you guys at the Detroit Rock and Roll Revival on 5/31/71 at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. You went on after J.Giels and before Edgar Winter's White Trash and Johnny Winter And. What a great concert, but I seem to remember you guys having trouble with the stage speakers! Was it Duane who was kicking them or Dickey Betts?
