An aspiring physician, Morgan Hunter captured first place with her winning speech at the 15th Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition on Friday, Jan. 14 in Houston. She shared her ambition to become a "change agent", following in the footsteps of the late civil rights leader. This year's topic addressed the question, "How will you carry forward the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in your personal and professional life?" Presented in Dallas and Houston by the Texas-based law firm Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, the competition commemorates the life of Dr. King and is designed to highlight the cultural diversity of the community while recognizing and encouraging the writing and presentation skills of elementary school students.
