@GadgetVision no, I'm serious. The closer I walked to the door the more it looked like to me I was pulling away from it. I think my eyes were mis-focusing. It kept getting brighter too. It was like looking through a dslr camera.
This is the first shot in the film of them in central Paris and out of their environment, it is supposed to be unsteady to achieve the effect of disorientation. This is reinforced by the fact that the audio is changed from stereo to mono at this point in the film to 'switch-it-up' and make the audience feel more unease (for lack of a better word) to better sympathise with the characters.
I studied the shit out of La Haine, it's fucking awesome.
