In 2005, at his hotel room in Makati, after he conducted a directing workshop as part of the .MOV international digital film festival and one night before he flew out of the Philippines, legendary filmmaker Jon Jost sings a folk song he originally composed with a friend to an audience of Filipino artists and filmmakers that include Lawrence Cordero, Roxlee, Emman De La Cruz, Lav Diaz and Khavn De La Cruz.

The camera caught only the tail end of his lovely song.

  • is that Lav Diaz?? so lucky~

  • @seanjohnam Yup. That's Lav. I hope you are well. How were you able to become familiar with Lav and his work?

  • You lucky bastards! <3

  • @FidelioRoo Thanks for the comment. I take it you're a big Jon Jost fan? =)

  • @linaofilms He is the best anything. Last Chants For A Slow Dance was a goddamn profound experience. I tried emailing him to ask to buy The Bed You Sleep In and Plain Talk/Common Sense from him but he hasn't gotten back to me yet! It's a shame how difficult it is to find his films.

  • @FidelioRoo Yes, he's a very busy guy. Currently based at Yonsei University in Korea and traveling around all the time. I couldn't agree more with you on him. I took a master class directing workshop under him in 2005 and he opened my eyes to the wider possibilities of the Digital Video medium that he has adopted these last several years. A sadly neglected/ignored filmmaker because of his politics and courageous views on film and art. Definitely one of the greatest filmmakers in the world.
