A user of SAMSON (Software for Adaptive Modeling and Simulation Of Nanosystems) interactively pulls on a carbon atom in a large carbon nanotube (8000 atoms) using a reactive force-field (the Brenner potential). When the incremental update algorithm is enabled, minimization is significantly faster. In general, this makes it possible for a user of SAMSON to easily edit complex nanosystems. SAMSON integrates adaptive, incremental algorithms to update the potential energy and interatomic forces. © NANO-D - INRIA. http://nano-d.inrialpes.fr
