World War II civil defense film from the New York State Department of Health, Office of War Training and Child Care Committee. In the words of the film's host, Governor Thomas Dewey, "In this picture we show you what might and does happen to some children, and what ought to happen with children while their mothers work."
After the Governor's introduction, the film contrasts the situations of children left home alone with those enrolled in child care centers where they are fed "hot, nourishing meals" and participate in a variety of engaging activities while their mothers work.
