In view of the claims that the Diebold (Accuvote TS & OS) machines were "hacked" (?) I'd point out that there would never be any need to do so. 81% of New Hampshire ballots are counted in secret by a private corporation.

There is no excuse in this day in age, to not utilize our all-powerful technology to make it safer, more secure, and verifiable when we vote.

I've been saying it for a long time - create a PAPER RECEIPT (Diebold at least gives you those on bank ATMs they make) with a MD5 checksum that enumerates your votes. Plug the checksum into any number of possible 3rd party vote verification secure websites, and make your own polls.

It makes perfect sense. Common sense at that. When you think about how easy it would be to do this, it brings up the question of why they didn't do so in the first place.

Personally, I think we should use both hand counts & the machine together. So when we do the hand count it could be compared to the Diebold number.
