  • Thank you for your nice comments and always great to hear from so many Ex PG county folks. That comment was made on the 1st version which is 5.5 mins long but did you also see the 2nd version on my page that is 12.5 mins long? I also have a 3rd version which is >17 minutes but is too large to upload on Youtube. I have a link for that show and cannot pot that in this comment. If you email me at billb@sunline.net I will gladly send you that link. Thanks again.

  • I am in NW FL near Panama City. Up in the panhandle. By the way, I graduated from DuVal 62.

  • @retiredRNinFL Thanks again for your comment. I hope you have also seen the Version 2 which is longer then the original one. I remember in 62 when DuVal first opened up, my oldest sister graduated in 63. Good luck with the hurricane(s) this season.

  • AWSOME!! Gave me warm fuzzies. I grew up in West Lanhamn Hills (1948-1955) and my father was a volunteer fireman at WLH firehouse. "Sceeter" comes to mind. God rest his sole. Moved to Wes Hyattsville in 1962 when first married and then to Glenridge. Moved to FL in 1970 after the riots of '68..PG County will always be home to me..Thanks so much for making this video. What a treasure..:)

  • @retiredRNinFL Thx for the nice comments and oh yes I do remember Skeeter from West Lanham Hills. One of my uncles I believe worked there at the Fire Dept, his name was Pete Vermillion. I left PG county in 1982 and never looked back and I am also now in SW Florida waiting to retire LOL

  • I wonder if you have any old Safeway photos from your area?

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X I have tried to find some old Safeway photos but still looking.

  • Thanks so much for posting this and the other videos. Remember the McDonald's jingle, "Just 47 cents for a three-course meal at McDonald's, the drive-in with the golden arches?" @venicebill . . .

  • Haha Im a DuVal grad. Class of 2011. Nice to see these old pics

  • my name is wayne mills i graduated from northwestern 1964, loved all the pics especially the old mighty mo and beltsville drive inn my two main hang outs.if any ever wants to talk over old maryland stuff im on facebook.

  • The Glen Echo Trolly, or at lease one of them, is here in the Transportation Museum of Virginia in Roanoke Va.

  • Thanks for the great effort. I will look at more soon. I thought the Mo was near Mt. Rainier?

It was a mile up a road from the Drive In Theater near the Two big Natural Gas tanks. A lot of cars and burgers. Give me a Mo and a coke.

  • Wonderful video, I was born there in 1950, grad. from DuVal also and stayed until 82 then moved to FL also, seems everyone did. Now I'm what's know as a half back, living here in TN. We went through Hurricane Andrew, enough said. Still only a days drive to see the family back in MD. So many good memories brought back with your video, THX, looking forward to the next!

  • @venicebill

I was a member (junior) of WLHVFD and Pete was straight up a good guy.

Small but mighty. He was a solid performer.

    One of the good guys.

  • we lived about 3 blocks from the Hillside Drive In- great photos

  • Yeah, you guys be safe down there. We are about 40 miles inland from the Gulf so we should be fine. I started HS at Bladensburg in 60 and then they built DuVal in 61 and I got "ousted" out to the middle of nowhere as it was back then. Not anymore. I hear from my Brother who lives in Bowie and is a retired teacher that DuVal has become a very rowdy and dangerous school. What a shame..
