Look my brother, I take no pleasure in telling you, that YOUR music is OUR music!

The whole point of the TransAtlantic sessions, was to give you all a wee clue as to where YOUR music came from, once upon a time!

You yanks, have made a HUGE contribution to our music, with the likes of Gerry Douglas & the Dobro and banjo!

We'd just like you to acknowledge, where YOUR music came from to begin with mo chara!

You're oor wee weans, God love yis!

  • Ah wow!!! this was the first Transatlantic Session I ever watched a while back! Loved this set! :)

  • Just discovered this on BBC4 tonight. I am hooked. It's beautiful. Just beautiful.

Hey there, trust me, I understand that music is an ongoing evolution. Yes, our music is the descendant of YOUR music as you'd say. It is a synthesis of Irish, Scottish and British music, along with elements from the black community and many other immigrant traditions. To answer your question, no, this isn't shown in the US, nor anything like it; the people here are crazy and would rather watch shit "reality television."

  • @Gusalagupagoo

The whole point of the Transatlantic Sessions, was to show the connections between our Trad Celtic music, and what became of it it the US, to show the roots of "Americana" as it were!

That was the whole point of bringing the Great & the Good of American music BACK here, to show you all, where it all began! Where YOUR music is really rooted!

Are you saying they don't show this in the States?? Are you all mad?

  • @Gusalagupagoo I mean PBS does a shit job in bringing legitimate traditional music to people. We have such a rich tradition, and yet it remains an almost unseen genre.

  • I wish we had something like the"Transatlantic Session" series here in America. But we can't can we? Nope, I have suffer through Celtic Woman, trying hard to refrain from shoving rusty nails in my ears, instead of being able to witness such talent as this, What a beautiful set!

  • @gtrplr42 People in large numbers don't always have the best taste! WISH there was more quality live acoustic music for people to hear these days.

  • That's some incredible music and so good to see how much they are enjoying themselves! Thanks for sharing. Take care, Ronald

  • Jerry smiles like an Irishman, he must have some Irish blood.
