Mardi Gras day (Feb. 16th, 2010) on Second and Dryades streets in the neighborhood of central city, New Orleans with the Mardi Gras Indians. My friend and housemate Sally Stevens and I rode our bikes down there from Audubon Park to savor the sights. Chanting and dancing in this video are the Golden Comanche tribe with Juan Pardo (aka "War Chief"), an indian decorated in blue and white plummage and beads, and 'Big Ike' on the bass drum. Holding back the crowd to help make room for the 'dancing ground' is "the wild man" (the young boy 'skeleton' carrying the stick decorated with moss and sculls). Other faces in the crowd include John Sinclair and his daughter Celia (another of my housemates). ..And a very tall ...NUN??? cool!
