My Brain Surgery - Part 01 of 14

A right temporal craniotomy was performed in order to correct a birth defect I have which is known as an innominate foramen meningoencephalocele. Here my surgeon is protecting my brain with gauze in order to begin his work on the bones.

What is the paper thing he puts on the brain? I see this in every brain surgery video. Is it to absorb fluid?

@CtrlRm yeah, its a type of gauze to protect the brain and possibly absorb fluids
