  • Problem is, most spinal problems amenable to manipulation, don't need to be manipulated which invariably takes the joint out of it's normal physiologic state and done repetitively can be a form for repetitive trauma. If you can glide a joint in it's orientation, take pain away and remove obstruction to movement, without causing the joint capsule to become 'artificially' lax, then why not at least try this first before jumping to a manipulative procedure? Help jt to what it's suppose to do.

  • This particular technique is useful for the subjects with the upslope restriction and not for all the cases. Of course the pre manipulative precautions are taken like Vertebral artery compromise checking. The mobilisations you suggested are definitely useful for uniplanar dysfunctions. For multiplanar dysfunctions and specially for the upslope restriction this demonstration is one of the best techniques.
