hydraulic sucks, MRL traction rules! ecodisc elevators are so nice and smooth!!

Informative video!

Mostly Vancouver BC in the Lower Mainland have KONE Elevators.

That's perfectly fine.

First of all, I am against MRL elevators, and I still think hydraulics are better. Second of all, I will not give up my argument until either my opinion is respected by users like you.

I can see that the old hydraulic elevator was a US elevator. I can see why EOS 21 needed an elevator upgrade as US elevators are the worst elevators out there.

You can't say they are harder on the environment today. There are holeless and roped applications for hydraulics now, AND ThyssenKrupp came out with biodegradable fluid, if there ever was an oil leak. Hydraulics only use a lot of power going up, not going down so much. It evens off.

Right on!

without giving up hydraulics. MRL is ok, but NOT better than any other system. BTW, wasn't that an old Montgomery elevator that KONE was supposed to be maintaining in the video?

I completely disagree with this video. First of all, that hydraulic elevator they showed was about 30 years old. Second, hydraulics have absolutely nothing to do with the way that the cab looks. Hydraulics are much more reliable than MRL's. MRL's could never EVER offer as much power as a hydraulic elevator. If a hydraulic elevator is properly maintained, then nothing should go wrong with it. Holeless hydraulics and roped hydraulics are an eco friendly approach to future hydraulic elevators...
What about cost? Is MRL cheaper than Hydraulic? (seems like it would be)

The Machine Room-Less elevator is a newer and more superior product and therefore has been sold at a premium. Each installation is different and therefore the costs of the elevator will vary. We are seeing the upfront costs for an MRL over a hydraulic elevator to be much more competitively priced.

So therefore hydraulic is cheaper to install... How exactly yould you maintain a MRL elevator when it has no machine room? Schindler, Otis and ThyssenKrupp each provide some sort of option or access to the MRL motor.

They may be cheaper to install but they're generally much more expensive to operate, more difficult to maintain, and much harder on the environment.
I'm not an elevator maintenance person, so I can't really give you a knowledgeable answer on how they're maintained. My guess would be you simply access it within the shaft, using the top of the elevator as the working platform.

More importantly the long term savings from energy efficiency can out weigh? the upfront cost difference.
