Catskill Mountain Jazz Series - South American Jazz Weekend
http://goCatskills.com
Argentine Tango pianist Pablo Zeigler has a playing style, both sharply percussive and metallically lyrical, that is instantly recognizable. He is the leading exponent of Nuevo Tango (New Tango), thanks to the skills and reputation he garnered while working extensively with Astor Piazzolla, Argentinas most famous composer.
His playing style, both sharply percussive and metallically lyrical, is instantly recognizable. As a composer he has taken Piazzolla's contrapuntal approach to tango music and added more jazz influence to create a unique sound.

Just heard these cats tonight in Asheville, NC. Rocked my musical world right out of the water. I wish I could begin to wrap my brain around what I just heard! Total talent, technique, creativity...:))). Amazing!

I was privileged to attend this performance, and aside from the applause interruptions from dumb-ass self-styled 'jazz aficionados' who go to concerts to hear themselves clap rather than the musicians' performances, it was a staggering experience. The entire trio was fabulous, but Pablo was truly a standout. His mastery of the spectrum from sheer unabashedly virile virtuosity to the most sinuous and delicate lyricism made the evening one I will not soon forget.
