@Grungeisdead36 Actually, Victory made them record this because they wanted them to have an album when they played Ozzfest.

@riotthecha the floyd cover is majestic. almost perfect. the only thing i can say about it is that the saxophone solo is too buried in the mix. other than that, its perfect

@1xDRCx i'm aware of that, duder; i was conferring with zucky22389 about their majestic Floyd cover

the key/meter changes have smoother flow and make for easier listening. but the original - technology or rudimentary blueprint or whatever - gives you a sense of all mainstream culture he disdains, contrasted with the (beautiful harmonizing of) private revelry in "bicycle race" (a tour de france tight bod in lycra lol) that shuts out the outside world he's disgusted by. so the jarring changes have a purpose.

I bet they had so much fun doing the anatomy of :P

I dont believe good cover albums are competitive by nature, i believe that the artists involved are tying to shed a new light on a song that influenced them as in this case. Other bands may try to take a song and add a new message or twist to it. What separates a good cover from a bad is when you can tell that a band loved the song and, therefore, loves to play it. As a musician i would never think a song was "a great" or "classic" if i thought i could do it better even if it had flaws.
