A short video of my 1978 Porsche 924 the weather was a bit cold here in the UK at the time so excuse the shaking as it was me and not the camera. I maintain the car myself and don't let anyone else touch her. Top speed with this car is 140mph but is scary at that speed!

  • Thats your opinion and god gave us all free will so I respect that comment.

Porsche desidned the VW Beetle and then took that design and ended up with a squashed beetle, the first Porsche car. At least the 924 was his own design that looked nothing like a Beetle and more like a sports car and wasn't influenced by the Natzis.

  • Hi!

I've got a same '78 924 like yours, even the rims are the same! This 4-bolt teledial ATS is very rare rare, so keep it!

    Respect! :)

  • Hi, yes these rims are rare. Saying that, I have a spare set just in case I dent the ones on the car.

  • Nice ... we have a tractor and a BMW 520i but I wish any of them had a sound like this :P:D xD

  • We also have a Tractor a 1948 Grey Fergy TE20 which sounds a bit louder!

  • an excellent example of a 924

  • very nice condition

  • Sounds sweet for an early car. I have one of the last from the other end of production in 1985, before they dropped in the 2.5 litre unit. Mine sounds a bit more like a sewing machine though! Really must adjust those cam followers.

Gotta be said, Guards Red is the ONLY colour to have! :-D

Keep hold of it guy, the early cars are becoming scarce and prices are rising.

  • @TheDiddlysquat Your dead right! Seems as though much of the cost of parts jump up on the 2.5, my 1st was a 1982 Lux, both models are great fun. Have been looking at 944's but really need to spend a few quid more to get a later model with the fresher interior or its just like sitting in 924 in a earlier model. Other problem of course is the lawn mower and a 944 will come to blows in my garage and only one will fit! Where a 924 they snuggle up no probs, Still I could just block pave the garden!!

  • This actual car was owned by my best mates dad in the 80's, the reg 924 gou was a give away, and was the start of my obsession of 924's, and I'm now on my 3rd, now owning a mint 86 924s with a white and red GT3 paint job, though orig wheels, same as yours but with upgraded red calipers. those who say 924's aren't porsche fans, as if it wasn't for the 924, porsche wouldn't exist today! and a later 924 with the 2.5 porsche (944) engine is a blast to drive and puts a grin on my face every time!

  • I believe the 924 was "supposed" to have been a sportster for VW, but they copped out and went with the Sirocco instead, leaving Porsche with a car design that wasn't being made anymore...so they bought back the plans and did it themselves. The 924 brought the Porsche line back from the edge of bankruptcy and paved the way for the 911.

  • this dude needs to buy some t cut
