The Beatles didn´t played pop, they were a rock band! No matter if they did also songs like "yesterday". The Beatles had and have a big influence on other bands and musicians, they changed the music, also if you like them or not.

The show is the Evolution of music and the birth of rock as we know it. Yes the Beatles are a great band but they are a pop band not a rock band, also the musicality is rubbish, greatest lists are compiled by people who are pressured by producers to include them. They received nods where appropriate, but The Stones took blues and translated it to rock, The Who took rock and turned it to eleven. The Beatles played the pop, it just wasn't the safe pop that America was used to at the time.
