Traditional "Grey Cat on a Tennessee Farm" played on Sweetee, a McSpadden mountain dulcimer tuned DAdd and recorded with a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. I learned this tune from Stephen Seifert's "Join the Jam" dulcimer songbook. I've never actually heard this song so I hope my interpretation is close enough.

  • Is that a 1+ fret added to your fretboard? Does that come in handy quite often? I've always debated on getting that optional fret. Please record something in DAdd with that capo in the first fret for a minor tune! :)

  • Yep, that's a 1+. So far, I've only used it for playing a Cmaj chord (1,1+,3) when playing songs in the key of G. I'll work on the capo'd minor tune when I get a chance. I'm sure my Seifert book has a few tunes to try (that's E minor, right?).

  • Could listen to this for hours straight!

  • Catchy tune and you do a great job! I've never heard it before but since I'm from Tennessee and have a gray cat I guess I'll have to learn it on my fiddle.

  • You are dead on this song! I just came from Kentucky Music Weekend and we played that song. I am just getting into my dulcimer. I posted "old joe clark" I am a very beginner please watch the vid and give me some playing advice. Thanks!
