Boston Early Music Festival presents the original 1718 chamber version of Handel's opera in a Chamber production at NEC's Jordan Hall.

The production will go on tour in the spring of 2011 to Seattle, Vancouver, Kansas City, and New York City. There will also be encore presentations at the 2011 Boston Early Music Festival in June.

  • I would love to see the whole DVD! Is the schedule of performances posted somewhere? I'm in DC but might come to NYC to see it.

  • @DCTenor The performances for the tour are on our website with stops in Seattle, Vancouver, Kansas City, and NYC at the Morgan Library. I know tickets have been going fast in New York. Then in June, the production will be a part of the Boston Early Music Festival alongside a fully-staged production of Steffani's Niobe, Regina di Tebe and a week of concerts by top Early Music artists.

  • I live in Kansas City and they're coming here on April 1...can't wait to see this!

  • @umroo2014 Our artists are in Seattle preparing for the tour now. Hope you enjoy the performance in Kansas City!

  • Fantastic video with very high quality of both video and audio! Please, BEMF, more videos! How about producing your opera presentations for DVD and not just CD?!

  • @AccessGuy11 We hope to have more highlight videos up in the coming year and you can visit our website for some behind-the-scenes videos by Kathy Wittman, our videographer. We'd love to produce DVDs of our operas, but right now the costs are too high. Thanks for watching!

  • Meraviglioso Spettacolo!

  • @csabakirkham I was at the show too. Just wondering if you know who it was that actually played first oboe. Not Gonzalo Ruiz, as billed, I don't think.

  • @jordieM59 "Wretched Lovers"- the chorus that opens act 2.

  • What is the aria at 1.33? :/

  • dont u come to Europe?! :(

  • I have always loved this piece by Handel. It is absolutely sublime in this more intimate format. The music, the singing, the costumes, and all are like individual jewels, each with a polished facet the surprises and pleases the observer! I only wish I had known about this a month ago . . . . missed the Seattle performance. Looking for a DVD or CD of this production from BEMF

  • I went to see this show today in Vancouver! Handel being my favorite, I had had high expectations and they were met completely! It was fantastic, an unique operatic experience!
