Buying a brand new house is the same as buying a car fresh off the assembly line. You have no idea how well it was all put together. At least with an older home, someone took the time over the years to make necessary corrections/repairs. Houses in the old days took a long time to build. Now they slap a house together in 1 day with the cheapest materials and speed trough it with power tools. The old craftsman knew his trade and pounded every nail by hand with pride.

That is why I would never buy a BRAND NEW house, you have no idea what kind of problems are going to develop. The crap construction that has gone during the housing boom make me queasy. Lots that had junk fill dumped on them and was not properly compacted, that is common.
