There are such things as solar water distillers... And i doubt water will cost more than oil, unless the market is somehow in the same monopolized, like oil, or energy.. steam and condensation are natural... this isnt some huge breakthrough..

Do you add minerals to the distilled water? I was always told that drinking nothing but distilled water was harmful to your health.

Distilled water is not harmful.
Actually regular fresh water fulfills some of our basic minerals requirements, if we repeatedly consume distilled water, it might be cause of shortage of minerals. And thus it will be harmful.
So, yes, we may need to add minerals to it. It's not a difficult job, during water treatment process many chemicals and minerals are added to it, which make it worth drink. Thus in this way, they are also contain minerals.

The bigger problem is to remove harmful substances from dirty water.
Don't you eat Iodine with (iodised) salt.

when that machine is going to be available in the market ? if they are so concerned about people's health why not they are just putting its diagram on the internet so other companies can make it.

Well even I wanna know when I can buy it, I think it would be development and testing process.
The answer is that it's a capatalist world and Dean Kamen is also an inventor as well as a businessmen, so I don't think in this capatalist world anyone, even Dean Kamen, will publish the manufacturing process in public so easily for free. Though it might be done if the government make an approach towards it and purchase this project.
In all over it's all fault of current political system.
