Inspired by the famous yet questionable Roswell Files, the Twilight Zone and a large variety of phenomena from crop circles to E.T. And many other still unexplained secrets. High up there and so very far away we imagine a synthesis, a mix of a view of our ways, customs and traditions down here ... For the coming HOT seasons of 2009.
This is where sarongs from South East Asia connect with the Shira, supposedly brought to India by Alexander the Great, later becoming the Sari ... Where the common Dhoti is the source of inspiration for a draped raw silk cocktail dresses also inspired by swimming in a Sari, the traditional way of bathing by the seaside in many parts of the country ... These influences all co-exist with the futuristic rendition highlighted with fluorescent materials matte and transparent, entirely composed artificially and embroidered like transistor interiors and digital machinery. Matte python is worked into stapled (not sewn) garments and tube inspired accessories.... endless lengths of thinnest gros-grain ribbon is top-stitched onto bubble dresses creating a new interpretation of an age old technique from Rajasthan and at the midnight hour this interstellar traveler appears in gowns that seem to hold together their draped bustiers with mechanically applied bits of plaster .. Are you high?
