It's never ceases to impress me how even the most ardent conservative senators like Orrin Hatch, Alan Simpson, Phil Gramm et al could have such positive memories of Ted Kennedy, even while they opposed most of his political ideas. They respected him as a man, and a public servant; they didn't hate him just because he sat on the other side of the Senate aisle. They all exude class and a real sense of patriotism. It has always been easy to respect them, even more so now.
