I've had several of these. Original use of this type was for making the cross piece (staves?) in a canoe.

Here are some blueprints

  • hey i want to build one of these and i was wondering how to you make the pedal t``hing to stay up do you put a pole through the middle

  • On mine. I put the fulcrum point in the top slanted board, not the horizontal one you sit on.

I drilled a hole in from the side (made the hole in the "pedal thing" a bit larger diameter) then hammered a large 6" or 8" galvanized nail through. You can see the head of the nail at the 0:58 mark.

  • where is your fulcrum ?

  • This one has it in the top board. I pre-drilled holes and used an "8" galvanized nail, (washers for spacers.)
