New York-bred Haynesfield parlayed his fondness for Belmont Park into a major upset Saturday afternoon, going wire-to-wire to snap Blame's five-race winning streak with a four-length victory in the 92nd running of the Grade 1, $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational.
Sent right to the front by Belmont's leading jockey, Ramon Dominguez, the 4-year-old Haynesfield rolled through uncontested fractions of 24.63, 48.74 and 1:13.24 while opening up on Hold Me Back and Rail Trip, with Blame running fourth. Entering the far turn, the second two began cutting into Haynesfield's advantage, but the son of 2004 champion sprinter Speightstown spurted clear again, swinging into the stretch with a sizeable lead that was never in jeopardy and hitting the wire in 2:02.48 for the 1 ¼ miles.
HAHAHAH Haynesfield had NOTHING left with an 1/8th to go. What do you think Zenyatta would have done to this field? HAHAHAH She would have left the others at the 1/8th pole and ran haynesfield down like the dog he is. LOL Just kidding Haynesfield people! Seriously, though, she would have destroyed these guys....Well, at least haynesfield would have given it a good show...LOL He trotted into the wire with about a 1/16th to go. Where was Blame? Oh, a seond late. LOL HOTY!? Pffttt

Haynesfield did good for us New Yorkers. He was the greatest athlete in New York on this day and unlike most of the athletes on the sports teams he was born in New York.
