RedShip RC3 now available! - January 11th 2011

The map has been split into two different versions:

- RedShip Basic edition: pl_redship_rc3
- RedShip Director's Cut edition: pl_redship_dc_rc3

What's the basic edition?:

Due to requests from hundreds of fans of the map, I made a simpler version of RedShip. One that only has 1 type of payload, the regular bomb, and no objectives to destroy. I kept the 3 different types of environments though.

The reasons why I had to do this are simple realities in Team Fortress 2: you got a lot of hardcore gamers playing the game, but you also got a lot of casual gamers. Having to deal with 3 types of payloads AND destroying objectives prooved to be scary for most casual gamers and that forced many admins to remove the map from their server rotations. This Basic edition of RedShip should be the answer to the problem.

For those wondering what happened to the fully featured version with the objectives and the 3 payloads, well, it's alive and well under a new name: RedShip Director's Cut edition.(pl_redship_dc_rc3) Look for a link to this version on the same download page as the Basic edition. Both versions are being worked on at the same time and carry the same gameplay/performance improvements and bug fixes with their respective changes in gameplay and geometry.

This is a quick walkthrough of the latest map from MoonQuake: RedShip.

Redship Director's Cut edition:
In this payload map for Team Fortress 2, the BLU team tries to take over RedShip with the help of one of three different payloads: a regular bomb, a radioactive emissions device or a super sentry cart.
There are key objectives that they must destroy to advance and breach RED's defenses.
Their goal is to reach the Core of the ship and neutralize it then take control of RedShip.

RED on the other hand must fight to keep their ship.
Proper disposition of defense units is the key to a well guarded ship.
Teamplay and communication has never been so important on a TF2 map!

Redship Director's Cut edition also is:

- 3 types of payload, one randomly chosen every round.
- Destructible objectives that add extra time and points to your score.
- 3 types of atmospheric conditions: sunny day, low-gravity space combat or sunset.
- New sci-fi theme for TF2!
- High quality visuals and great performance.
- Interactive environment and visual effects.
- Intense action and fun for every class!

  • @dimega98 Well, just like most custom maps for the game unless you got real solid support its gonna be hard for your map to be played on many servers. I haven't updated the map in a few months so maybe that's the reason why it's hard to find in server rotations. So be patient I will soon be releasing a new version of the map. This should generate interest in the map. Stay tuned.

    One thing I realized after releasing a few versions of the map is that the DC edition definitely is for hardcore TF2 gamers. (not saying you're not, I don't know)

    That said, let me add a few things:

    - You can sap a super sentry, only engies, pyros... can make it work again.

    - You must build normal sentries out of sight of a super sentry.

    - The map relies heavily on both teams being balanced.

    - Stage 2 is not impossible, it just relies on the above to work.

  • I'm a noob to FPSBanana, but the download button just leads to the information. No other Download button. What should I do so I can actually enjoy this map?

  • @YeWelshTabby once you press the download button, the page allows you to choose between a few mirrors for download. Just scroll down a bit and you'll see them.

  • @M00NQUAKE I need help, I cant find any server with thi smap, i have searched on google, tf2 and nothing, can you help me?

  • @M00NQUAKE Sapping super sentries I know about, however with how easily they're removed they need to have more downsides. Mobile super sentries are a problem because most sentries are positioned to block the cart, so when it gets moved in that gets all screwed up. Stage 2 I have never won even with a massive team stack on blue. The red team just spams the homewrecker and has an engineer on the cart always.

  • you should make it so that spies can sap the power boxes, but enemy fire destroys the sapper.

  • This map does have some major balance issues. Mainly super sentries are almost a guaranteed win. Stage 2 is basically impossible. Stage 1 is basically impossible unless you get the super sentry. The problem I see is that on stage 1 there's no secondary spawn for BLU, that needs to be addressed. On stage 2, lose the super sentry cart. It's already pretty broken as it is no need to use it more than once. Main problem with the super sentry is that they're too good against regular sentries.
