  • pt2 continued... A lot of pregnant woman get enhanced sense of smell when they are pregnant. I know my sister couldn't stand the smell of Bragg Aminos when she was pregnant and a few other foods that she normally always ate became completely repulsive to her. Something definitely changes in pregnant women, with regard to cravings, sense of taste and smell.

  • @BeYourPotential congrats to your sister and best of luck to matthew's :-) yes, perhaps our taste and smell responses change in accordance with what the baby would naturally find appealing? then again, not sure if babies would like ice cream and pickles (the usual craving) haha... and certainly vegetarians can have normal healthy children. there are all sorts of paranoias out there, but we just need to love people through their limited views, i suppose :-) thanks for watchin! xo

  • great video! I wish human adults would get off the need to have milk from another being, should just ask someone breastfeeding if they can buy a bottle of their milk!!

I love rice milk myself, no inhumane-ness needed!

  • @alovelylittledeer yup, i like rice and almond milk too! :-)

  • i basicly use it for making milk kefir ( fermented milk) .. everybody talks about how healthy it is for us.. i still havent noticed any change from it

  • @rui27marne listen to your body, not "everybody" out there talking :-) we dont need kefir. it's just another gimic. eat fresh fruit and veggies and your gutt bacteria will be plentiful. if you damage the gutt, that's when people start needing all the kefirs and yogurts, etc.

  • Yes, you covered great points here. Make sure the pregnant mother is receiving an extra 300-500 calories a day. Also, more amino acids, iron containing foods esp at the beginning. "Skinny Bitch" Book has an edition for expecting mothers!! Congrats!

  • Great Video Julie. Matthew's sister is over visiting us and she is 4 months pregnant, so I found this an interesting topic. In Ireland the midwife team gave my sister a lot of hassle when they found out she was vegetarian. They told her that she risked causing all sorts of problems with her baby. (They are quite backward in Ireland with regard to understanding of Nutrition). Anyway, we were so glad when my sister gave birth to a really healthy baby.

  • @GreylinRose yes, ferment your soy if you must use it! or even better, eat some fruit :-)

  • @rui27marne what knocks me off the fence is considering if we were meant to eat the milk of another species. if i imagine a cow or a squirrel or a goat or a horse trying to drink my milk it sounds like the most insane thing ever. same goes for us. in the wild i would prob use milk for survival if i had to but i do my best to work on releasing the need for it. also, the cows are forced to produce milk even after the normal feeding period even with grass fed. it's not very humane.
