Tribute to Ayouduo and Der Jen (Dezhen)

This is my tribute to Miao singer Ayouduo and artist Der Jen (Dezhen). Ayouduo is a Miao singer from China with a sweet voice and a beautiful smile. Der Jen is an artist from Taiwan. Her artwork is seen on Chinese wedding cake/cookie advertisements, public transit tickets, children's magazines, and romance novels. She is famous for the traditional feel in her art. The clothing, hair styles, and jewelry drawn by Der Jen are as authentic as they can get. The Miao (Hmong) artwork pictures I used were from her art book titled "Lost in the Silvery Land - The beauty of the Miao". The song I used is "Muab Kev Hlub Los Nrog Kuv" by Muab Kub Yaj. The song doesn't have anything to do with Ayouduo or Der Jen. I just liked the melody!

I think that its meaning depends on the context it is being used. However, in Laos, the Spelling and its pronunciation are the same as the sound of cat, which is more than often is derogatory word. In China, the spelling and and pronunciation of Miao are different than the sound of cat. Actually, the Chinese spelling with its pronunciation of Miao is the best meaning I can ever think of in regard to a group of people/ethnic. Its meaning is a reserved germinated sprout or shoot.
