The Obama administrations policy of engagement with Iran was put to the test on Thursday in their highest-level direct talks in three decades. The United States was joined by five other world powers in the meetings in Geneva.

For the U.S., the meeting was all about persuading Iran to come clean on its nuclear program. Thursdays talks ended with Iran agreeing to more talks before the end of the month.

Flynt Leverett, the director of the Iran Project at the New America Foundation and professor of international relations at Penn State, joins Martin Savidge to discuss the outcome of the talks and the possibility of sanctions on Iran.

  • tell that Obama. he will only laugh at you. i know u r right.

  • Obama will be able to pressure Israel to stand down from attacking Iran as diplomatic efforts drag on are mistaken ... In June 1967, Israel initiated the 6Day War without notice to Washington, despite Johnson's insistence that Israel maintain the status quo and consult with the U.S. before taking action ... episodes demonstrate that if Israel decides that Iranian nuclear weapons are an existential threat, it will be deaf to entreaties from U.S. officials to refrain from using military force

  • Agreed.

  • Why Iran? ... Why not Iran?!

  • We are the strongest military in the world, we are in control, we need to show them this, because right now they seem to not understand the facts
