He is pecking at his reflection because he thinks it is another male, and wants to fight it.

....And sometimes the songs are mating calls, which is about the closest you can get to anything "romantic and beautiful", and then only with the those species of birds who have the same partner for life.

The "song" and whatever other noises would have been an assertion of territorial rights (as in, "this is MY turf, get off it or I will attack you").
Amazing how we humans have always regarded "birdsong" as sweet, melodic etc., yet much of these "songs" are announcements for rivals to keep away, threats, war-cries, warnings to others that a predator has been seen etc.

Yeah, I used to let my bird do that sort of stuff for about 5-10 minutes a day to get it out of his system, but every bird does something different, it can be quite comical. But you have to be careful if you ever get a bird don't let them have a mirror all the time because some can become attached to it and pull away from human contact because of it...

The reflection looks like a rival male to the peacock. That's all it is. Birds seem to fall for it, but not, for example, cats. (I believe SOME cats are fooled.)

Thats a male peacock, the females are kinda bland looking. But the funny thing is you put anything mirrored around a bird they do weird things, My bird sang, whistled and attacked that bird in the mirror...
