LYRICS:
I'll be alone each and every night
While you're away, don't forget to write
Bye-bye, so long, farewell
Bye-bye, so long
See you in September
See you when the summer's through
Here we are (bye, baby, goodbye)
Saying goodbye at the station (bye, baby, goodbye)
Summer vacation (bye, baby bye, baby)
Is taking you away (bye, baby, goodbye)
Have a good time but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will I see you in September
Or lose you to a summer love
(counting the days 'til I'll be with you)
(counting the hours and the minutes, too)

Bye, baby, goodbye
Bye, baby, goodbye
Bye, baby, goodbye (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
Bye, baby, goodbye (bye-bye, so long)

Have a good time but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will I see you in September
Or lose you to a summer love
(I'll be alone each and every night)
(While you're away, don't forget to write)

See you (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
In September (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
I'm hopin' I'll
See you (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
In September (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
Well, maybe I'll
See you (bye-bye, so long, farewell)
In September (bye-bye, so long, farewell)

  • Love this!!

  • Muuuuuito bom, lembro de meu pai colocá-lo para ouvir quando eu era criança!

  • Summer 1966 perhaps one of the best times in the human history.

  • Love this song, I think it is one of my all-time favourites

  • who cares what Spielberg thought, the Happenings version is better than the Tempos!

  • It doesn`t get much better than this!

  • I use to cry when this song came out. my first grade school crush went away that summer.

  • Gotta like the way they snap their fingers through the whole song.

  • where was this clip from? does anyone know ? Looks like some teenage dance show.. just cant remember the name of it now. Thanks for your help. Love this song by the way. Childhood memories. :)

  • annyct1 ... It was Lucas, not Spielberg. Also, American Graffiti was set in 1962. Lucas used only songs that were current in '62 or were already oldies because they were supposedly being played by Wolfman Jack on the radio right when the action was taking place. The Tempos' version was released in '59, I think; the Happenings' cover wasn't released till '66. Lucas couldn't've used the Happenings' version if he'd wanted to or he would've blown the theme of his scoring.
