Bolivia
1982-1984: The political arena is characterized by infighting and corruption. The international recession and domestic fiscal mismanagement put the Bolivian economy in a state of crisis. The government prints money, fueling inflation. Per capita income falls below 1965 levels, with more than half the labor force employed in the informal sector. Paz Estenssoro is elected president again.

1985-1988: Shifting his focus away from the center left that elected him, Paz Estenssoro institutes a drastic New Economic Policy that liberalizes trade, deregulates the financial sector, privatizes some state enterprises, and implements tax-reform law. These "shock therapy" measures succeed in reducing record inflation and bringing about slow but steady economic growth. Success comes at a high social cost.

  • Goni is a criminal, a thief. His administrations were disasters. This helped the people to elect an authentic leader as Evo Morales. Goni is now enjoying his huge fortune under the protection of the US.

  • Those nations and governments that didnt answer the phone when Bolivia needed help are in a black list. Bolivia will not sell lethium to those countries. By default Chile is No 1 on the list. By the way, Chile's foreign policy is a failure. Chile does not have ambassador in La Paz therefore Bolivia does not sell natural gas to Chile. Chile now has to pay to bolivia for using Silala water resources and Bolivia no longer accepts very old cars via the Iquique or Arica ports.

  • Evo Morales without having a PhD in Harvard and having problems even speaking Spanish shows to Goni - a well-educated, corrupted, and oligarch guy that came to rule Bolivia in representation of his uncle Sam- how to govern a country for its people. Bolivia in 2011 has more than 55% of GDP in international reserves, a well-manage budget running surplus, and growth economy. Evo had to deal with many oligarchs from 2005 that almost broke the country in two, but that‘s over.

  • Lithium would make Bolivia rise from poverty but God help us, hopefully we do take thoughtful steps towards negotiating.

  • Where is the next portion of this video??

  • Tú has estudiado en Bolivia?
