Are you watching, Cowell?

@Jrockershadow They wouldn't have been able to unless he signed another contract with them. He signed a contract as Prince, which stated that Warner owned all the rights to music recorded by "Prince". By changing his name and releasing music under the symbol, legally, they had no control over it.

so didnt the labels try and claim that name?
-
@cjellwood He does, through his own label, Paisley Park.
-
@Jrockershadow Yes? What's your point?

@maluse227 Every genre of music has good and bad. I LOVE good music, no matter the genre!
People say he's mental for changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol.. but I think it's one of the most intelligent business moves an artist has ever made.

"Let the baker make the bread." No kidding. It seems odd to me that the musicians in this day and age cannot produce their own music for mass distribution.
