  • @stsharp1, Only case I could think about is some wild conspiracy theory where the government wants you gone...

But this does more good than bad. I'm sure as hell glad for it. Criminals who run can't hide anymore!

  • Can't think of a way this could be abused? Cant be serious

  • @Micahdogg The tag data is useless without the ability to run in against the DMV, something no outsider could do.

  • @Micahdogg Right. Cops have access to all thatinformation and more now, and that stuff is not a problem. The information is not given out, it is treated just like criminal history information from NCIC, restricted. So sorry, that dog don't hunt, ALPR has been around for a while and those fears have not materialized into reality. Cops don't need ALPR to get all that data, they already have it.

  • @CryptoDriver Find out where you live and pay you a visit, obtain your driver license number and see your traffic and/or arrest history, obtain your ssn and use it to apply for loans, basically a villain could only hurt you, destroy your credit, and/or steal your identity. Don’t forget the perks of insurance companies being able to establish negative driving characteristics and use this info to justify increases to your annual premium, or to decline claims.

  • Smile, you're on Big Brother camera.........not so candid.

  • I can't think of a way that this could be abused. There is no expectation of privacy when driving on a public street in plain view of God and everyone. Even if some nefarious super villain got access to that data, what could he do with it? The only thing it's good for is catching bad guys.

  • I could be on-board with this, but what about all the other plates? Is all of that data saved? Is it stored so they can mine it later on? Of course it is because there is no such thing as an innocent citizen anymore. Here's a quote from a story that prompted my searching for plate readers. "Police plan to track down the motorcyclist, who wore a white helmet, using data collected by license plate readers stationed along the roadway."

  • this is just too much police state. love the quote podup365

  • THIS TECHNOLOGY (if not abused) CAN KEEP THE SCUM OFF THE STREETS AND AWAY FROM MY FAMILY .

it also CANNOT DISCRIMINATE ACLU ...........LMAO
