What a wonderful presentation from a man who obviously loves the Dead. I agree with Burrjazz...I've never seen so much pain expressed so beautifully. In the performance at Soldier Field in 1995 it really does sound as if he had a premonition because he poured out his soul into the song and he brought me close to tears. Thanks for posting this!
JDark I agree wholeheartedly with your opening. I was seeing lots of shows between 89 and the end so this was is a tune that truly brings me back to the carefree days of my youth witnessing the end of a legend. Sadly by 93ish it was becoming very obvious that he wasn't going to pull out of the funk he was in. It can be speculated as to why he declined to rapidly in those years but it's tunes like this one and Days Between that make it apparent that he saw it coming just like we did.
Thanks a lot JDarks. Your vids are really cool. I definitely hear ya with what you say at the beginning, but I saw the Dead when they debuted it. The song means a lot to me, it basically breaks my heart when I hear it . But it brings back a lot of memories for me and it gives me a real bittersweet feeling, I don't like it besause like us all, I miss Jerry, but strangely at the same time I like it. Now I can play it. Thanks man, I appreciate your vids and efforts.
