Although it has been known for decades that air contaminated with toxic substances can enter the aircraft cabin, the airlines apparently still aren't taking the dangers seriously enough. Subtitles available. First shown in German on the WDR programme "markt" as "Gift im Flieger?"

  • wouldnt a seperate air intake for beathing fix the problem ? unless it is the air it self at that altitude that is bad

  • @glennster66 Yes, indeed it would. The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses exactly this principle.

  • 146's have always had a problem with engine oil getting into the aircon ducting - we got brand new a/c in 1989 & almost immediately had incidents of it happening - it never really got solved despite various modifications, replacements and maintenance procedures trying to stop it.
