http://fatherhurley.com/2007/07/can-money-buy-happiness/ Since money and the things it buys can be taken from us, we must conclude that money cannot, in and of itself, buy happiness.

Paul wrote it best, "I am not complaining about having too little. I have learned to be satisfied with whatever I have. I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little. • Great video fatherhurley. I think you will have a tough time convincing folks who have been brainwashed all their lives by society, the school curriculums, hollywood and the media to associate money with happiness that money doesn't bring happiness. There is the old joke that money does not buy happiness but everyone wants to find out for themselves :) I like Russell Simmons quote (paraphrased) about the happiness that money brings being as fleeting as the smoke on a junkie's pipe.

  • @SweetLifeKenyan Thank you for your comments. I'm happy that such an old video is still being viewed and touching people. God bless you!

  • I need to make a new series on this subject because some of the commenters here are misinterpreting what I'm saying. That tends to happen a lot on YouTube...

  • Good viewpoint. Money however, is a small tool that can be used to provide much good.

  • I agree with you...

  • That is the KEY. Use it, but don't abuse it. Now back to money allowing you to be yourself.

If you didn't have to work, what would you do? Would you spend more time with your kids and other family members? Would you do what you always wanted to do with yourself? Maybe traveling, anthropological trips to mexico, or feeding and providing shelter to those homeless on the other side of town. What i'm trying to stress here is that money gives you FREEDOM. It is ultimately up to you how you use it.

  • You make good points in all of your comments. But I think you misunderstood my whole video... I don't misagree with much of what you said. You just are assuming too much about what I think from this 4 min vid. Peace & Love.

  • Your example not surprisingly, have been exploited by the media. Why do you think? Because they make good tv ratings! That's why.

Take the time to meet people who have really made it, who still know who they are inside. Let's look at a better example, Oprah. She said that success can only be measured by one's service to others. She has always wanted to help others, and by doing this, and doing this very well, she has become extremely successful, both as an individual, AND financially.

  • The fact is that people who are "self-made", in other words, people who have developed themselves and their money simultaneously, don't lose the money as fast as you'd like to think.

Sure, these people go through divorces and such, but so do WE.

The fact is that being financially independent, not having to work because of enough cashflow coming in, allows people to be more of who YOU are. Of course, you have to be prepared for success. You just can't be be thrown in.

  • You need a little bit more research my friend. (please don't take this the wrong way).

The reason about 80% of people who win the lottery declare bankrupcy within the first 5 years of winnning the money is simply because they haven't developed a millionare mindset. There is a term in psychology that explains why this happens.
